Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Tuesday, calling for stronger cooperation between China and Vietnam. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the ASEAN-China-GCC Summit, highlighting the importance of regional collaboration.
Premier Li emphasized China’s commitment to working with Vietnam to enhance their comprehensive strategic partnership. He referred to the recent successful state visit by General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese President Xi Jinping to Vietnam, where both countries agreed to accelerate building a community with a shared future.
“China stands ready to implement the outcomes of President Xi’s visit,” Li said. “We aim to maintain high-level exchanges, deepen mutual political trust, and enhance mutually beneficial cooperation across various fields.”
Li also noted the increasing global uncertainties and emphasized China’s dedication to openness and development. He expressed a desire to strengthen communication with Vietnam to uphold international fairness, safeguard the global economic and trade order, and protect the common interests of Global South countries.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh echoed Li’s sentiments, affirming Vietnam’s willingness to work closely with China. “Vietnam will actively implement the important consensus reached by our top leaders,” Chinh said. “We are committed to intensifying high-level exchanges and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation.”
Chinh also congratulated China on the success of the first ASEAN-China-GCC Summit and expressed Vietnam’s readiness to pursue more practical achievements in tripartite cooperation. Acknowledging the challenges in the current international situation, he stressed Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening coordination with China and firmly safeguarding legitimate rights and interests.
