China’s rich cultural heritage has arrived in Turkmenistan with the launch of two mesmerizing exhibitions in Ashgabat. On Tuesday, the capital city welcomed the “Galloping Steeds – 2025 Chinese Horse Culture Exhibition” and the “Chinese White – The Art of Dehua White Porcelain Exhibition”, marking a significant cultural exchange between the two nations.
The horse culture exhibition features over 150 items, including intricate saddles, captivating horse-themed photography, elegant calligraphy, stunning paintings, detailed sculptures, fur art, and delicate paper cuttings. These pieces collectively celebrate the depth and diversity of China’s ancient equestrian traditions, offering visitors a window into a culture where horses have long been symbols of strength and freedom.
Equally enchanting is the Dehua porcelain exhibition, showcasing more than 40 pieces of modern white porcelain. Known for its purity and fine craftsmanship, Dehua porcelain, often referred to as “Chinese White,” reflects centuries of artistic excellence. The inclusion of horse-themed porcelain pieces symbolizes the shared appreciation for equine elegance and represents the artistic kinship between China and Turkmenistan.
To commemorate the opening, representatives from Chinese and Turkmenistani institutions exchanged meaningful gifts. Among them was a collection of poetry by Magtymguly Pyragy, a revered Turkmen poet, translated into Chinese, highlighting the literary bridges being built. Exquisite porcelain artifacts and other artworks were also presented, symbolizing the growing cultural connections.
These exhibitions will be open to the public until early July, providing a unique opportunity for residents and visitors in Turkmenistan to immerse themselves in the rich traditions and artistic heritage of China.
