Chinas Xizang Maintains Stable Ecological Environment in 2024

Xizang’s Ecological Environment Remains Pristine and Thriving

Xizang Autonomous Region, nestled in the southwest of China, continues to boast one of the world’s best ecological environments, according to a recent official report released on Thursday.

The 2023 annual report from the regional department of ecology and environment highlights that both air and water quality in Xizang remain excellent. The region has established six national-level ecological quality monitoring stations to ensure the continued health of its environment.

Xizang is home to 97 nature reserves, covering a vast area of 434,000 square kilometers. These reserves protect 246 wildlife species under key national protection, showcasing the region’s commitment to biodiversity.

Notably, over 80 percent of the global populations of Tibetan antelope, wild yaks, and black-necked cranes spend their winters in Xizang, highlighting its critical role in global wildlife conservation.

Luo Kaituo, an official from the regional department of ecology and environment, announced that Xizang successfully completed nearly 71,000 hectares of afforestation in 2023. This massive tree-planting effort not only enhances the region’s natural beauty but also contributes to global efforts against climate change.

As environmental concerns grow worldwide, Xizang stands out as a beacon of ecological preservation, blending natural splendor with proactive conservation efforts.
