Chinese mainland has issued a stern warning to the United States, urging it to cease all military collaboration with the Taiwan region. On Monday, Jiang Bin, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of National Defense, highlighted the issue following reports of the U.S. transporting new M1A2 tanks to Taiwan and planning increased arms sales over the next four years.
“This is clear evidence that the U.S. and ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist forces are violating China’s core interests and escalating tensions across the Taiwan Strait,” Jiang stated.
He questioned, “Who is making provocations despite strong opposition from the Chinese side? Who is undermining cross-strait stability and stirring up trouble? We believe we all know the answer.”
Jiang emphasized that the Taiwan question lies at the heart of China’s core interests and represents a red line in China-U.S. relations that must not be crossed.
“We urge the U.S. to stop its military collusion with Taiwan in any form. Otherwise, it will get burned for playing with fire,” he warned. “We caution the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities that U.S. weapons cannot save them. Seeking external support for ‘Taiwan independence’ is doomed to fail.”
He added that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) will continue to strengthen its military training and combat readiness to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“China will take resolute measures to thwart ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist activities and external interference,” Jiang concluded.
