What happens when a loyal police dog meets its high-tech counterpart?
On the first day of the Gaokao, China's national college entrance exam, Bibi, a 1.5-year-old explosive detection dog, came face-to-face with a robotic patrol dog outside an exam venue in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province.
Both were deployed to help maintain order during the important examination period. Bibi was tasked with sniffing out explosives to ensure the safety of students, while the robotic dog, equipped with facial recognition technology, monitored and identified individuals around the site in real time.
Bibi was clearly curious—yet slightly wary—of the steel-clad newcomer. The encounter highlighted the blend of traditional and modern technology in public security efforts.
As the two "colleagues" stood side by side, it became evident that cooperation between the real and the robotic could enhance safety and efficiency. While Bibi uses her keen senses and training, the robotic dog brings advanced surveillance capabilities to the team.
As technology continues to advance, such partnerships between humans, animals, and machines may become more common in maintaining public safety.
