Former Kmt Chairman Ma Ying jeou to Visit Chinese Mainland

Former KMT Leader Ma Ying-jeou to Lead Taiwan Youth Delegation to Chinese Mainland

Ma Ying-jeou, former chairman of the Kuomintang (KMT), will visit the Chinese mainland from June 14 to 27, according to Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.

Ma will lead a delegation of Taiwan youth to the provinces of Fujian and Gansu. The group will attend the 17th Straits Forum in Fujian, a key event fostering cross-straits exchanges and cooperation. In Gansu, they will participate in a ceremony honoring Fuxi, a legendary ancestor revered in Chinese culture, and engage in activities promoting traditional Chinese heritage across the Taiwan Straits.

“We welcome the visit and will make proper arrangements and provide necessary convenience,” said Zhu Fenglian during a press briefing on Wednesday.

Zhu emphasized the importance of cross-straits exchanges and cooperation amid current complexities in the Taiwan Strait. “As always, the mainland welcomes people of all walks of life and the vast number of compatriots in Taiwan to visit and conduct exchanges with the mainland, and join hands with the mainland to carry forward fine traditional Chinese culture and contribute to the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,” she added.

Ma’s upcoming visit underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen ties and cultural understanding between the mainland and Taiwan, especially among the younger generation.
