Chinese Commerce Ministry Briefs on China us London Meeting

China and U.S. Boost Trade Talks, Move Forward on Rare Earth Exports

China and the United States are stepping up their efforts to enhance trade relations and reduce misunderstandings. During a recent press briefing, He Yadong, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce, announced that both countries agreed to leverage the China-U.S. trade consultation mechanism to maintain open communication and strengthen cooperation.

The agreement follows the framework established during a June 5 phone call between the two heads of state and recent economic and trade talks in Geneva. “New progress has been made in addressing each side’s economic and trade concerns,” He noted.

When asked about China’s export licenses for rare earths—a group of vital minerals used in high-tech products—He emphasized that China, as a responsible major country, considers the reasonable demands of other nations for civilian applications. He confirmed that China has approved several export license applications related to rare earths and will continue to strengthen the review process for compliant applications.

“China reviews export license applications for rare earth-related items in accordance with laws and regulations,” He said. “We have already approved a certain number of compliant applications and will continue to process eligible cases.”
