China Media Group Brings Top Films and TV Shows to Central Asia

China Media Group (CMG) has launched a showcase of its premium films and television programs in Astana, bringing a selection of top Chinese productions to audiences across Central Asia. The launch coincides with Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Kazakhstan’s capital for the second China-Central Asia Summit.

The showcase features twelve acclaimed shows from CMG now airing on major national broadcasters in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The initiative aims to deepen cultural exchanges and strengthen people-to-people ties between China and Central Asian countries.

At the launching ceremony, CMG President Shen Haixiong delivered a video address, emphasizing the importance of mutual understanding and cooperation. “President Xi has highlighted China’s commitment to being a trustworthy and reliable good neighbor, partner, friend, and brother to Central Asian countries,” Shen said. “Through these premium programs, we hope Central Asian audiences can experience the warmth and friendliness of the Chinese people and explore new opportunities for win-win cooperation.”

Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Han Chunlin also addressed the event, noting the strong bonds between China and Central Asia. “We are neighbors connected by mountains and rivers, forming a community of shared future,” Han said. “By deepening practical cooperation and cultural exchange, we contribute to regional peace and stability.”

The showcase is a collaborative effort between CMG and media outlets from Central Asian countries, implementing the outcomes of the first China-Central Asia Summit held in 2023. It reflects a growing interest in cultural collaboration and mutual growth in the region.
