China has renewed weather alerts, warning of intense rainstorms and soaring temperatures across several regions. The National Meteorological Center (NMC) issued a blue alert for rainstorms, expecting heavy rainfall in parts of Guangdong, Guangxi, and Sichuan from Tuesday to Wednesday.
Residents in these areas may experience downpours with hourly precipitation exceeding 70 millimeters, along with thunderstorms and strong winds, according to the NMC. Local governments are being urged to prepare and inspect drainage systems in cities, farmlands, and fishponds to prevent flooding.
In addition to the rainstorm alert, the NMC also issued a yellow alert for high temperatures in multiple regions. Sweltering heat ranging from 35°C to 39°C is expected in parts of north China, areas along the Yellow, Huaihe, Hanjiang, and Yangtze rivers, as well as in regions of the northwest and southwest, western Inner Mongolia, and the Turpan Basin and southern Xinjiang Basin in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Some areas in Hebei, Henan, and the Turpan Basin may experience scorching temperatures exceeding 40°C, the NMC added. The center advised people to take precautions against the heat and limit exposure to the sun.
China operates a four-tier weather warning system, where red represents the most severe alert, followed by orange, yellow, and blue. The recent alerts highlight the importance of staying informed and prepared during extreme weather conditions.
As extreme weather continues to impact various regions, young people are encouraged to stay updated with local forecasts and take necessary measures to stay safe during these times.
