Top Political Advisor Calls for Cross straits Integrated Development

China’s Plan to Enhance Cross-Strait Integration in Fujian

China’s top political advisor, Wang Huning, has called for boosting development in Fujian Province to enhance ties across the Taiwan Strait.

Speaking in Xiamen on Sunday, Wang emphasized the importance of leveraging Fujian’s unique position to foster economic and cultural exchanges between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.

Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, highlighted the need for innovation in policies and mechanisms to promote integrated development.

“We should create a favorable business environment to attract more Taiwan compatriots and enterprises to grow on the mainland,” Wang said.

He also stressed the importance of normalizing cross-strait travel and facilitating opportunities for young people from Taiwan to pursue careers and development on the mainland.

In September 2023, China decided to make Fujian Province a demonstration zone for integrated development across the Strait, aiming to deepen connections and cooperation with Taiwan.
