BEIJING — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, held a telephone conversation with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi on Wednesday.
During the call, Albusaidi strongly condemned Israel’s recent attacks on Iran, describing them as a blatant violation of the United Nations Charter and international law. He emphasized that these actions are a serious infringement on Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Omani foreign minister expressed deep concern over escalating regional tensions, particularly the risks posed by strikes targeting nuclear facilities. He warned that such attacks could lead to nuclear leakage, causing catastrophic consequences for the region.
Albusaidi praised China’s consistent role in upholding justice and promoting peace within the international community. He expressed hope that China would play a greater role in restoring peace and stability in the Middle East.
Wang Yi stressed that the cause of the current tensions is clear: Israel’s actions have violated international law and severely undermined Iran’s sovereignty and regional stability. He noted that the conflict has disrupted the hard-won momentum of indirect negotiations on the Iranian nuclear issue, to which Oman had made important contributions.
“China has always advocated for the peaceful resolution of disputes and firmly opposes the use of force or the threat of force,” Wang said. He reiterated China’s opposition to Israel’s military actions, emphasizing, “The immediate priority is to halt the fighting. We must not allow the region to descend into an unpredictable abyss.”
The Chinese foreign minister voiced full support for the recent joint statement issued by 21 Arab and Islamic countries, including Oman, calling for respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and for resolving disputes through peaceful means.
He urged the international community—particularly countries in the region—to strengthen unity, uphold justice, and build momentum for opposing war, promoting peace, and advancing a political resolution.
Wang Yi affirmed that China will maintain close communication and coordination with Oman and other regional countries. He added that China will continue to play a constructive role on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations to help de-escalate the conflict and restore peace in the Middle East.
