Huaweis Harmonyos Ecosystem Enters Fast Lane

Huawei Unveils HarmonyOS 6 Beta, Pushing Global Smart OS to New Heights

At the Huawei Developer Conference 2025 (HDC 2025) on June 20 in Songshan Lake, Dongguan, the Chinese mainland, Huawei unveiled the developer beta of HarmonyOS 6, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of its smart operating system ecosystem.

Yu Chengdong, Huawei’s executive director and CEO of the Consumer Business Group, introduced HarmonyOS 6 as a major leap forward, promising millisecond-level low-latency interaction and enhanced AI capabilities. A standout feature is the HarmonyOS Multi-Agent Framework (HMAF), designed to revolutionize human-device collaboration by integrating artificial intelligence directly into the operating system’s core.

HarmonyOS 6 brings innovative features like “Tap-to-Share,” enabling seamless file transfers between smartphones and PCs, and cross-device content insertion, boosting productivity across multiple users and devices. The system also extends its reach into daily life with support for smart parking solutions, quick fuel payments, and enhanced privacy protection measures.

In addition to the operating system advancements, Huawei introduced the HarmonyOS Agent Framework. Over 50 initial HarmonyOS agents are set to launch, covering sectors such as e-commerce, media, education, healthcare, and finance. These agents, leveraging the HMAF, aim to provide intelligent and personalized services across various scenarios.

Yu highlighted the remarkable growth of OpenHarmony, the open-source foundation of HarmonyOS. With over 130 million lines of code, nearly 9,000 community contributors, and more than 1,200 software and hardware products, OpenHarmony stands as one of the world’s fastest-growing open-source operating systems.

Huawei continues to encourage developers to join the HarmonyOS ecosystem, offering support through initiatives like the Hongfei and Yaoxing programs. With 8 million registered developers and over 30,000 apps and meta-services under development, the ecosystem shows substantial growth. In the enterprise sector, HarmonyOS has been adopted by more than 38 million businesses, enhancing office efficiency and security.

As HDC 2025 progresses, Huawei reaffirms its commitment to open-source collaboration and innovation. The release of the developer beta of HarmonyOS 6, alongside a rapidly expanding community, positions HarmonyOS as a leading force in the era of all-scenario intelligence.
