China and Russia Vow to Deepen Cooperation at High-Level Meeting

Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, pledging to strengthen the bonds between their nations and enhance cooperation across various sectors.

Ding, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, conveyed cordial greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping to Putin. He emphasized China’s readiness to work with Russia to consolidate political mutual trust and support each other’s development and revitalization.

“The leadership and strategic guidance of President Xi and President Putin provide the strongest assurance for deepening China-Russia cooperation and sustaining our friendship for generations to come,” Ding said during the meeting at the 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

He highlighted the importance of expanding trade and investment, deepening practical cooperation in the energy sector, and advancing relevant projects. Ding also stressed the need for both countries to uphold comprehensive strategic coordination and defend international justice amid profound changes in the global landscape.

Putin welcomed Ding’s attendance at the forum and asked him to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi. He noted that despite external challenges, Russia-China relations have reached an unprecedented level of all-round development.

“We are ready to further strengthen practical cooperation with China and work together to create a better future for both our countries and the world,” Putin said.

Looking ahead, Putin expressed his anticipation for visiting China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin and participating in commemorative events marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
