China Tackles over 3500 Non compliant Ai Products Since April

China Cracks Down on 3,500 Non-Compliant AI Products

China’s cyberspace authorities have taken significant action against over 3,500 artificial intelligence products that failed to comply with national regulations since April. These products include mini-programs, web applications, and AI agents that did not meet the required standards.

This crackdown follows a campaign launched in April targeting the misuse of AI technologies, such as deepfake face-swapping and voice-cloning, which infringe on public interests. The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) announced on Friday that efforts were intensified to address the failure to properly label AI-generated content that could mislead the public.

Over the course of the campaign, more than 960,000 items containing illegal or harmful content were removed from the internet, and over 3,700 related accounts were shut down, according to the CAC. Local cyberspace authorities were instructed to ramp up actions against non-compliant AI products and to cut off their marketing and traffic channels. Major websites and platforms were urged to strengthen technical safeguards and accelerate the implementation of labeling regulations for AI-generated content.

In the next phase, the CAC plans to focus on prominent issues such as AI-generated rumors and vulgar online content. The administration aims to build a robust technical monitoring system and standardize sanction protocols to maintain a healthy online environment, guiding AI development in a positive direction.
