“Uzi gave people a real sense of passion and wanting to win,” said Chris Greeley, Global Head of League of Legends Esports, during the Hall of Legends induction ceremony in Shanghai. On June 6, Chinese esports sensation Jian Zihao, known by his in-game ID “Uzi,” was officially inducted as the second member of the prestigious League of Legends Hall of Legends.
Renowned for his aggressive playstyle and unwavering determination, Uzi has become a symbol of excellence in the esports community. Fellow legend Lee Sang-hyeok, better known as “Faker,” the first inductee into the Hall of Legends, praised Uzi, saying, “I have tremendous respect for him. I do think he’s a legend.”
Another esports professional, Gao Diping, or “Gogoing,” highlighted Uzi’s unique approach to the game. “He’s an exceptionally pure competitor, aggressive and fierce in his playstyle,” Gao remarked.
During the ceremony, Uzi reflected on overcoming challenges and staying true to one’s goals. “When you feel trapped at your limits, and it seems unbearably tough, pause and reflect,” he advised. “Reexamine your original aspirations and goals. I believe everyone carries that initial spark within. Reconnect with it, and you’ll find yourself drawing closer to those very dreams and ambitions.”
Uzi’s induction comes at a time when China’s esports industry is experiencing unprecedented growth. According to the China Esports Industry Report, the country’s esports user base reached 490 million, with industry sales revenue totaling 27.57 billion yuan (approximately $3.9 billion), marking a 4.62 percent increase year on year. Live streaming accounted for over 80 percent of this revenue.
The rise of stars like Uzi not only showcases individual talent but also highlights the dynamic and rapidly expanding esports landscape in China. His journey inspires a new generation of gamers, emphasizing passion, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence in the digital arena.
