In the historic city of Tianshui, located in China’s Gansu Province, people gathered to celebrate the 2025 Memorial Ceremony of Fuxi at the ancient Fuxi Temple. Fuxi, a legendary figure in Chinese mythology, is credited with teaching humanity essential skills like hunting, fishing, and creating the earliest forms of writing.
This annual event, recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage, brings together tradition and the modern world. Participants dressed in traditional costumes performed ancient rituals, music, and dances, paying tribute to Fuxi and reflecting on the importance of cultural roots.
“The ceremony is a vivid reminder of where we come from,” shared Zhang Wei, a university student who traveled to Tianshui for the event. “It’s amazing to see how these age-old traditions still resonate with people today.”
The Fuxi Memorial Ceremony not only honors China’s ancestral wisdom but also sparks conversations about cultural preservation in a globalized world. It serves as a bridge between the past and the present, encouraging young generations to appreciate and carry forward their rich heritage.
