China Launches National Energy Efficiency Week in Qingdao

China has launched its National Energy Efficiency Promotion Week in Qingdao City, east China’s Shandong Province, sparking nationwide efforts to promote a greener lifestyle. With the theme “Energy Saving and Efficiency Improvement,” the event kicked off on Monday, aiming to inspire individuals and industries to embrace sustainable practices.

The week-long event runs from June 23 to 29, with a special highlight on National Low-carbon Day on June 25. Throughout the week, authorities at both national and local levels are hosting interactive activities that showcase achievements in energy conservation, promote green consumption, leverage digital technology for environmental benefits, and encourage public participation.

Exhibitions dedicated to energy saving and carbon reduction are drawing attention to China’s significant milestones in environmental protection. This year marks two key anniversaries: the fifth year since China committed to peaking carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality, and the 20th anniversary of the energy efficiency labeling system, which helps consumers make informed choices about energy consumption.

The promotional activities span various sectors. In industry, initiatives focus on improving energy efficiency to reduce waste and pollution. The building sector is highlighting energy-saving techniques and carbon reduction strategies, while the transportation sector is showcasing advancements in green and low-carbon technologies.

For 34 years, the National Energy Efficiency Promotion Week has played a crucial role in enhancing energy efficiency across the country. It has significantly contributed to sustainable economic development and has been a driving force behind China’s comprehensive green transformation. By engaging communities and fostering environmental consciousness, the event encourages everyone to play a part in building a sustainable future.
