In a move highlighting China’s pivotal role in the global economy, Chinese Premier Li Qiang will attend the Annual Meeting of the New Champions, widely known as the Summer Davos Forum, in Tianjin from June 24 to 25. The announcement came from Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun on Monday.
Premier Li is slated to deliver a keynote address at the opening session, meet with international dignitaries, and engage with representatives from the global business community. His participation underscores China’s commitment to international collaboration and economic development.
Notable attendees include President Daniel Noboa of Ecuador, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong of Singapore, Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev of Kyrgyzstan, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko of Senegal, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh of Vietnam. Their presence reflects the forum’s growing influence and the importance of multilateral dialogue.
Under the theme “Entrepreneurship in the New Era,” this year’s Summer Davos will gather over 1,700 participants from more than 90 countries and regions. The event aims to tackle pressing global challenges and explore innovative approaches to sustainable and inclusive growth.
The forum will focus on five critical areas: deciphering the world economy, perspectives on China, disruptive industries, investing in people and the planet, and advancements in new energy and materials.
Gim Huay Neo, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum, emphasized Asia’s significant contribution to global growth, highlighting that the continent drives 60% of global economic expansion, with China accounting for half of that figure. She noted that the Summer Davos offers a unique opportunity to deepen understanding of development trends in China and across Asia.
Established in 2007, the Summer Davos has become a pivotal event in China, bringing together global leaders, innovators, and change-makers. As the counterpart to the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, the Summer Davos convenes the next generation of “new champions”—fast-growing enterprises shaping the future of business and society.
