Tianjin, China — Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh came together on Tuesday during the 2025 Summer Davos in north China’s Tianjin Municipality. The meeting marks a significant step in strengthening the bond between the two nations as they celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Premier Li emphasized the enduring friendship between China and Vietnam, describing it as a relationship of "comrades and brothers" that has stood the test of time. He highlighted the progress made since President Xi Jinping’s successful visit to Vietnam, noting that comprehensive strategic cooperation continues to advance, bringing tangible benefits to both peoples.
"In a world filled with increasing uncertainties, it’s crucial for China and Vietnam to unite, enhance strategic communication, and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation," Premier Li stated. He expressed China’s readiness to align development strategies with Vietnam, implementing plans to synergize the Belt and Road Initiative with Vietnam’s Two Corridors and One Economic Circle strategy.
The leaders discussed expanding collaboration in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and green development. They also underscored the importance of enhancing cultural exchanges, tourism, education, and media cooperation. Both sides agreed to jointly host a series of activities for the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchange, aiming to foster deeper understanding between their citizens.
Premier Li welcomed Vietnam’s interest in becoming a BRICS partner country and expressed China’s willingness to work together to safeguard free trade and promote an inclusive global economy. "By working hand in hand, we can inject more stability and positive energy into world peace and development," he said.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh echoed these sentiments, expressing Vietnam’s commitment to implementing the important consensus reached by the top leaders of both parties. "We are eager to enhance high-level exchanges, build political mutual trust, and promote practical cooperation," he remarked.
He also affirmed Vietnam’s firm support for the global initiatives proposed by President Xi and looked forward to strengthening multilateral cooperation with China. "Together, we can defend multilateralism and safeguard our common interests," Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh added.
