Chinese Premier Li Qiang Meets Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa to Strengthen Ties
Beijing, China – Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa on Tuesday, marking a significant step in bolstering the relationship between the two nations. President Noboa is in China to attend the 2025 Summer Davos Forum.
During the meeting, Premier Li emphasized the importance of the 45-year-long diplomatic relationship between China and Ecuador. “Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, our countries have maintained a strong momentum of development,” Li said. “We have consolidated political mutual trust, achieved fruitful practical cooperation, and deepened our bilateral friendship.”
Li expressed China’s readiness to work with Ecuador to enhance their comprehensive strategic partnership. He highlighted the potential for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly in areas such as trade, clean energy, infrastructure, and finance. “China is willing to align development strategies with Ecuador and strengthen cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative,” he added.
The Chinese premier welcomed more high-quality products from Ecuador into the Chinese market and encouraged Ecuador to utilize platforms like the China International Import Expo (CIIE). He also called for increased exchanges in education, culture, and youth, emphasizing the importance of facilitating personnel exchanges between the two countries.
On the international stage, Li underscored China’s commitment to enhancing communication and coordination with Ecuador within multilateral mechanisms like the United Nations. “We are ready to practice true multilateralism and contribute positively to maintaining world peace and development,” he stated.
President Noboa acknowledged China’s role as Ecuador’s second-largest trading partner and expressed gratitude for the mutually beneficial cooperation that has enhanced the well-being of the Ecuadorian people. “Ecuador is willing to engage in dialogues across various fields with China, deepen our friendship, and promote cooperation in trade, finance, agriculture, clean energy, infrastructure, and education,” Noboa said. “We look forward to enhancing people-to-people and cultural exchanges and jointly addressing common challenges.”
The meeting between the two leaders signifies a mutual commitment to advancing the modernization efforts of both countries and adds fresh impetus to their ongoing cooperation.
