A new documentary series highlighting Chinese President Xi Jinping’s dedication to cultural heritage and development has premiered on major Italian television channels, marking a significant moment in China-Italy relations.
Produced by China Media Group (CMG), the documentary showcases President Xi’s deep commitment to preserving and promoting China’s rich cultural legacy. Through vivid storytelling and breathtaking visuals, it offers viewers an intimate look at the places where President Xi has worked or visited, including Zhengding in Hebei, Xiamen in Fujian, Hangzhou in Zhejiang, and the historic city of Dunhuang in Gansu.
The series combines archival footage, on-the-ground filming, and in-depth interviews to present a multifaceted narrative of China’s efforts in cultural preservation and exploration in the modern era. At the launch event held on Wednesday, China Media Group (CMG) President Shen Haixiong, who is also the vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, praised the growing cultural exchange between the two countries. He emphasized that the documentary invites audiences to explore the enduring vitality of Chinese culture, rooted in thousands of years of history.
“President Xi’s inclusive vision is deeply rooted in his strong appreciation for China’s cultural heritage and his profound confidence in its value,” Shen said. He highlighted CMG’s commitment to producing cultural programs that resonate with global audiences and foster mutual understanding.
Italian Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara also attended the event, expressing enthusiasm for the documentary. “People in Italy are eager to gain a deeper understanding of China’s rich cultural heritage and the vitality of contemporary China,” he remarked. “This documentary will further promote mutual understanding between our two nations.”
A Bridge Between Cultures
Chinese Ambassador to Italy Jia Guide noted that the documentary aims to build a bridge of mutual understanding between the peoples of China and Italy. He expressed hope that it would strengthen people-to-people ties and foster lasting friendship and cooperation.
The premiere of the documentary coincides with the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Italy. It represents a shared commitment to cultural exchange and highlights the importance of celebrating both nations’ ancient civilizations.
