China’s Premier Li Qiang announced that China’s economy is booming and ready to offer new opportunities to the world. Speaking at the 10th Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Board of Governors on Thursday, he highlighted China’s commitment to opening up and integrating deeper into the global economy.
“China will remain a thriving land in the global economy,” Premier Li said. “Our massive market will keep growing, bringing more opportunities for trade and investment to other countries.”
He praised the AIIB, which has grown from 57 to 110 members over the past decade. “The AIIB has fueled the common development of its members, pioneered new models of global financial governance, and set a new example for international multilateral cooperation,” he stated.
Looking ahead, Premier Li encouraged the AIIB to continue supporting its members’ development. “The AIIB should offer affordable, high-quality financing that meets the varied needs of its members. It should also help share expertise and experience to strengthen their growth potential,” he suggested.
He emphasized the importance of global cooperation. “The AIIB needs to promote more international dialogue and play a bigger role as a new multilateral platform in addressing global governance challenges,” Premier Li added.
Concluding his speech, Premier Li expressed China’s readiness to support the AIIB. “China is ready to work with all parties to support the AIIB in starting a new decade of glory and make greater contributions to promoting sustainable development and building a community with a shared future for humanity,” he said.
The meeting, themed “Connecting for Development, Collaborating for Prosperity,” welcomed around 2,500 attendees, including AIIB President Jin Liqun, board governors from AIIB members, and leaders from major global financial institutions and organizations.
