Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun met with leaders from several neighboring countries in Qingdao on Thursday, aiming to strengthen regional ties through the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The SCO is a major regional alliance that includes China, India, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, among others.
During the meetings, Dong emphasized the importance of unity in facing global challenges. He urged member nations to work together against unilateralism and protectionism, promoting cooperation that brings stability and prosperity to the region.
“China stands ready to collaborate closely with the defense departments and militaries of SCO member states,” Dong said, highlighting China’s commitment to advancing defense and security partnerships.
Leaders from the attending nations echoed this sentiment, expressing their willingness to deepen cooperation within the SCO framework to enhance security and foster development both regionally and around the world.
