Japan bids a heartfelt farewell to four beloved giant pandas as they depart Adventure World in Shirahama, Wakayama Prefecture, on June 28, 2025, returning to China after years of bringing joy to visitors.
The pandas—Rauhin, a 24-year-old female and the first panda ever born at Adventure World, along with her daughters Yuihin (8), Saihin (6), and Fuhin (4)—have been cherished by the public. Rauhin, affectionately known as a ‘veteran mom,’ has given birth to 10 cubs during her time in Japan.
Their departure marks the end of an era for Adventure World, leaving only two giant pandas in Japan, both residing at Ueno Zoo in Tokyo until their scheduled return to the Chinese mainland by February 20, 2026.
Fans across Japan have expressed deep emotions, sharing memories and bidding tearful goodbyes to the pandas that have become an integral part of their lives. The pandas’ return to China is part of international conservation efforts aimed at protecting and studying this endangered species.
Adventure World staff have organized special events and farewell ceremonies, allowing visitors to express their gratitude and wish the pandas well on their journey back to the Chinese mainland.
The pandas’ legacy will continue to inspire wildlife enthusiasts and conservationists alike, symbolizing the strong bonds formed through shared efforts in wildlife preservation.
