Chinese dancers Guo Pu, known as B-Girl Royal, and Li Houhua, or B-Boy Jason, captured the girls’ and boys’ titles respectively at the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) Asian Breaking Championship Youth in Shanghai on Saturday.

In a dynamic girls’ final, 16-year-old Guo defeated Japan’s Hiyo Yamada, B-Girl Hiyo, with a clean 3-0 score. Showcasing exceptional musicality and energetic moves, Guo stood out among the competition. Japan’s Cocoa Meguro, B-Girl Cocoa, secured the bronze medal.

“My musicality made the difference,” Guo said after her victory.

On the boys’ side, 15-year-old Li triumphed over Japan’s Shunta Nakamura, known as B-Boy Lil Kong, also with a 3-0 score. Li impressed the judges with consecutive air flares and complex freezes. Fellow Chinese dancer Tong Jierong, B-Boy Jierong, earned the bronze medal.

“I’m thrilled with this result,” Li expressed. “My opponents were outstanding and deserve high respect.”

The competition, held at Shanghai’s Luwan Gymnasium, featured 169 young breakers—122 B-Boys and 47 B-Girls—from across Asia.

The Asian Breaking Championship Adult finals are scheduled to take place at the same venue on Sunday.
