104 Years On Cpc Leads Chinese Path Toward Modernization

CPC Celebrates 104 Years: Leading China’s Modernization Journey

July 1, 2025 marks the 104th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Over the past century, the CPC has grown not only in numbers but also in its commitment to leading China on a unique path toward modernization.

A Growing Membership

By the end of 2024, the CPC’s membership exceeded 100 million, reaching over 100.27 million members. This represents an increase of nearly 1.09 million from the previous year, demonstrating the Party’s continued appeal, especially among young people.

The structure of the CPC is also evolving. About 57.79 million members, or 57.6% of the total, held junior college degrees or higher, reflecting a more educated membership. Additionally, female members accounted for nearly 31 million, or 30.9% of the Party, highlighting efforts toward gender inclusion.

Empowering Communities

In places like Tianmu Town in Lin’an District, Hangzhou City, CPC members are at the forefront of rural revitalization. By encouraging young graduates and professionals to return to their hometowns, they are driving economic development and innovation.

In Yuexiang Village, 15 CPC members relocated from big cities to engage in agriculture, inspiring 120 local “new farmers” to participate in revitalizing the countryside. With over 20 entrepreneurial projects and investments exceeding 50 million yuan (about $7 million), these initiatives are boosting local economies and improving livelihoods.

Global Contributions

The CPC’s influence extends beyond China’s borders. Since dispatching its first medical team to Algeria in 1963, China has sent over 30,000 medical professionals to 76 countries and regions, providing care to nearly 300 million patients.

In 2024, China continued its commitment to global development, working with over 160 countries and collaborating with international organizations like the United Nations. The selfless acts of CPC members, such as Dr. Zhang Junqiao who tragically lost his life rescuing a drowning woman in Tanzania, exemplify this dedication.

Looking Ahead

As China prepares to implement its 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), the CPC is actively engaging with officials, the public, and experts to shape the nation’s future. President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of this plan in advancing Chinese modernization and fulfilling the strategic goals set at the 20th CPC National Congress.

The CPC’s 104-year journey reflects a steadfast commitment to innovation, education, and shared prosperity. With the enthusiasm and participation of its growing and diverse membership, the Party continues to lead China toward a modern future.
