Chinese Premier Li Qiang is set to attend the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from July 5 to 8, before embarking on an official visit to Egypt from July 9 to 10, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At a regular press briefing on Wednesday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasized the significance of the BRICS cooperation mechanism as a key platform for solidarity among emerging markets and developing countries. “It is an important force for pursuing an equal and orderly multipolar world and fostering universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization,” she said.
China aims to work with all parties to strengthen the BRICS strategic partnership, contribute to upholding multilateralism, promote common development, and enhance global governance. The BRICS nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—collectively represent a significant portion of the world’s population and economy.
During his visit to Egypt, Premier Li will engage in discussions with Egyptian leaders, including Prime Minister Mostafa Kamal Madbouly. The two sides are expected to explore ways to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and address issues of common concern.
“China and Egypt are comprehensive strategic partners,” Mao Ning stated. “In recent years, under the strategic guidance of our leaders, the bilateral relationship has flourished. Political mutual trust has deepened, and practical cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results.”
She added, “China looks forward to promoting the traditional friendship with Egypt through this visit, deepening cooperation, and advancing China-Egypt relations toward the goal of building a community with a shared future for the new era.”
Premier Li’s visits underscore China’s commitment to strengthening ties with other nations and playing an active role in global affairs, particularly among developing countries in the Global South.
