China Commemorates 80th Anniversary of Victory with Cultural Celebrations

China is preparing a series of cultural events to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

At a press conference held on Thursday by the State Council Information Office, officials announced plans that include themed exhibitions, artistic performances, and the release of new literary and artistic works.

An evening gala is scheduled for September 3 in Beijing, jointly organized by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, China Media Group (CMG), the Political Work Department of the China Military Commission, and the Beijing municipal government.

Starting July 7, a themed exhibition will open to the public, showcasing historical artifacts and stories from the war. From August to October, a series of performances featuring outstanding stage works will be presented, and an art exhibition will run from August to September.

Additionally, a set of new television dramas, documentaries, and short films will be released soon, offering fresh perspectives on the historical events of the war.

China designated September 3 as Victory Day to commemorate the signing of the Japanese Instrument of Surrender on September 2, 1945, marking the end of World War II in Asia.
