Wang Yi Eu Should Establish Objective Rational Perception of China

China’s Wang Yi urges EU to build objective view and boost cooperation

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called on the European Union (EU) to adopt a fair and balanced perspective on China, urging deeper cooperation between the two major economies. Co-chairing the 13th China-EU High-level Strategic Dialogue in Brussels with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, Wang emphasized the importance of viewing each other as partners rather than rivals.

“Despite our different histories, cultures, and values, China and the EU should not see each other as opponents,” Wang Yi stated. “We need to strengthen exchanges, deepen understanding, enhance mutual trust, and jointly provide the world with much-needed certainty.”

Wang highlighted that the challenges facing the EU do not stem from China and called for mutual respect and learning. He expressed hope that the EU would respect China’s core interests through practical actions, reaffirming China’s support for European integration and the EU’s efforts to enhance its strategic autonomy.

Kaja Kallas reiterated the EU’s commitment to the one-China policy and expressed willingness to develop a more constructive relationship with China through open dialogue. She also called for more balanced and fair economic and trade cooperation between the two sides.

The dialogue also covered pressing international issues, including the Ukraine crisis, the Israel-Palestine conflict, and the Iranian nuclear issue, underscoring the shared responsibility of China and the EU in promoting global peace and stability.
