The annual Cross-Strait Youth Summit kicked off in Beijing on Thursday, gathering over 700 participants from diverse backgrounds, including young representatives from both sides of the Taiwan Strait. The summit aims to foster dialogue, collaboration, and cultural exchange among the youth.
During the opening ceremony, Song Tao, head of the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, highlighted the crucial role of young people in national rejuvenation. “The younger generations on both sides of the Strait are key participants and promoters of our shared future,” he said. Song urged them to actively engage in cross-strait exchanges and oppose any separatist movements or foreign interference.
Ma Ying-jeou, former chairman of the Kuomintang, addressed the summit via a video message. He encouraged the youth to increase interactions and learn from one another. “By working together, we can open a bright future for the Chinese nation,” he stated.
This year’s summit features a series of forums and an exhibition showcasing technological innovation and cultural integration. The event provides a platform for young people to share ideas, collaborate on projects, and strengthen ties across the strait.
The Cross-Strait Youth Summit has become an important annual event, promoting understanding and cooperation among the younger generations. As participants explore opportunities for shared growth, the summit underscores the importance of youth in shaping the future.
