China and Ghana Celebrate 65 Years of Diplomatic Friendship
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Ghanaian Foreign Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey exchanged warm congratulations on Saturday, marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between their nations.
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted Ghana as one of the first sub-Saharan African countries to establish formal ties with China. “Over the past 65 years, our countries have developed a strong and stable relationship,” Wang stated. “We’ve deepened political trust, achieved fruitful cooperation across various fields, and maintained close coordination in international affairs.”
Expressing optimism for the future, Wang added, “I am ready to work with Minister Botchwey to elevate the China-Ghana strategic partnership to new heights.”
In response, Minister Botchwey expressed her gratitude for China’s longstanding support of Ghana’s socio-economic development. “China’s valuable assistance has been instrumental in our progress,” she said. “We look forward to enhancing our collaboration and driving continuous development within our strategic partnership.”
The exchange of congratulations signifies a commitment from both nations to strengthen their bond, fostering mutual growth and prosperity. As influential players in the Global South, China and Ghana’s enduring friendship sets a positive example for international cooperation.
