Search Underway for 4 Villagers Missing After Landslides in Sichuan Province

Local authorities in Sichuan Province are intensifying their search for four villagers who went missing after heavy rains triggered devastating landslides in Danba County. Continuous downpours since July 2 have unleashed mountain torrents and landslides, impacting 12 towns across the county.

The relentless rainfall has forced the relocation of 1,719 people from 645 households, as officials scramble to ensure the safety of residents. Emergency response teams are working around the clock to locate the missing individuals and assess the damage caused by the natural disaster.

“We are doing everything in our power to find the missing villagers and provide assistance to affected families,” said a spokesperson for the local emergency management department.

Sichuan Province, located in southwest China’s mountainous region, is prone to such natural calamities, especially during the rainy season. The recent events have raised concerns about the safety measures in place for remote communities.

Authorities are urging residents to stay alert and follow safety guidelines as weather forecasts predict more heavy rains in the coming days.
