Record-Breaking Crowd Witnesses Nanjing and Suzhou’s Fierce Football Standoff

A staggering crowd of 60,396 fans filled the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center on Saturday night, setting a new attendance record in the Jiangsu Football City League, popularly known as the “Su Super League”. The electrifying atmosphere surpassed the previous record of 43,617 spectators set just six days prior during the match between Suzhou and Yangzhou.

Heading into the game, Nanjing held fourth place in the standings with 10 points, maintaining a four-point lead over sixth-placed Suzhou. Both teams displayed relentless aggression from the kickoff, launching continuous attacks in a bid to clinch victory. Despite the high-octane action, neither side managed to break the deadlock, leaving the spirited fans with a 0-0 draw.

This match marked the first goalless game since the “Su Super League” kicked off in May, underlining the defensive prowess of both squads. Notably, both Nanjing and Suzhou remain undefeated in the league, showcasing their consistent performances.

Looking ahead, Nanjing is set to visit Yangzhou in their next fixture, aiming to climb higher in the rankings. Meanwhile, Suzhou will host Zhenjiang, seeking to convert their attacking efforts into a home victory.
