China and UN Unite for Fairer Global Governance, Says Premier Li

Johannesburg, South Africa — Chinese Premier Li Qiang announced on Tuesday that China is ready to strengthen solidarity and cooperation with the United Nations to promote a more just and equitable system of global governance.

Premier Li made these remarks during a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the 17th BRICS Summit. The summit, held in Johannesburg, brings together leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa to discuss global economic and political issues.

“China stands prepared to deepen collaboration with the UN to address global challenges and advocate for fairness and justice in international affairs,” Li stated. He emphasized the importance of multilateralism and the need for all nations to work together to achieve common development goals.

Guterres welcomed China’s commitment to the UN’s mission and highlighted the crucial role that China plays in promoting sustainable development and peace worldwide. “The United Nations values China’s support in tackling global issues such as climate change, poverty alleviation, and conflict resolution,” he said.

The meeting underscored the shared vision of China and the UN in fostering a world where nations cooperate to overcome common challenges. As global uncertainties continue to rise, both leaders called for more inclusive and effective international governance mechanisms.

The BRICS Summit serves as a platform for emerging economies to voice their perspectives on global matters. This year’s summit focuses on themes like sustainable development, strengthening multilateral systems, and enhancing cooperation among member countries.
