Global Mayors Gather in Tianjin for SCO Summit Cities Dialogue

The “Global Mayors Dialogue – SCO Summit Cities” opened on Tuesday in north China’s Tianjin, bringing together around 350 guests from Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states. Delegates from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and other countries gathered to explore themes of openness, inclusiveness, and integrated development.

Experts, scholars, and media professionals are participating in discussions aimed at building greater consensus and deepening practical cooperation in areas such as connectivity, trade and investment, green development, and people-to-people exchanges. The event seeks to contribute to global stability and prosperity by fostering collaboration among SCO member states.

“Urban cooperation will play a vital role in advancing ecological protection, digital transformation, integrated transportation, cultural tourism, and urban planning,” said Janesh Kain, deputy secretary-general of the SCO Secretariat, during his speech at the opening ceremony.

The opening day featured a series of roundtables, including a thematic dialogue among cities of SCO member states and a think tank dialogue. Participants jointly launched a campaign inviting people from all walks of life—both at home and abroad—to share their SCO stories and help illuminate the path toward a brighter future.

As a key platform for global exchange and cooperation, the dialogue aims to foster trust and friendship among nations, promote mutual understanding through shared experiences, and contribute to building a community with a shared future for humanity.
