China is ramping up its efforts to combat severe natural disasters as the country enters its main flood season. On Wednesday, the Ministry of Finance announced the allocation of 150 million yuan (approximately $20.97 million) from the central natural-disaster-relief fund to support affected regions.
The emergency funds have been distributed to six provincial-level regions hit hardest by flooding, typhoons, and geological disasters: Zhejiang, Fujian, Sichuan, Chongqing, the Xizang Autonomous Region, and Gansu.
Typhoon Danas, the fourth typhoon of the year, has wreaked havoc on southeastern coastal regions, causing secondary disasters and posing significant challenges for local communities.
The allocated funds will focus on critical relief efforts, including emergency rescue operations, search and relocation services for residents, detection of potential secondary disasters, and repairs of damaged homes. These measures aim to help communities recover swiftly and bolster their resilience against future disasters.
This decisive action highlights China’s commitment to safeguarding its people and underscores the importance of preparedness and swift response during disaster-prone seasons.
