Wang Yi China is Bangladeshs Trustworthy Friend Neighbor Partner

China Pledges Stronger Ties with Bangladesh on 50th Anniversary

China has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ties with Bangladesh as they mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Touhid Hossain, adviser for foreign affairs of Bangladesh’s interim government, on Thursday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

“China is willing to always be a trustworthy good friend, good neighbor, and good partner to Bangladesh,” Wang Yi said during the meeting. He emphasized that China values its relationship with Bangladesh based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and maintains a friendly policy towards all Bangladeshi people.

Wang Yi expressed China’s support for Bangladesh’s interim government and its efforts to conduct smooth and stable elections. He highlighted the mutual benefits of China-Bangladesh cooperation, noting that China provides zero-tariff access for Bangladeshi products, creating significant opportunities for Bangladesh’s development.

Contrasting this with other nations, Wang Yi pointed out that some countries impose high tariffs on Bangladesh, despite its status as one of the least developed countries. He described such actions as unreasonable and unethical.

As South Asia’s largest neighboring country, China is committed to building a community of shared future in the region. Wang Yi stated that China is eager to work with Bangladesh and other South Asian nations to achieve modernization and contribute to Asia’s development and revitalization.

He also mentioned the successful trilateral meeting between China, Bangladesh, and Pakistan in Kunming, China. Wang Yi expressed hopes to advance trilateral cooperation and achieve tangible results together.

Touhid Hossain praised China as a reliable and trustworthy partner for Bangladesh. He conveyed gratitude for the support China has provided over the years and reaffirmed Bangladesh’s adherence to the one-China principle.

“Developing friendly cooperation with China is a consensus among the Bangladeshi people,” Hossain said. He emphasized Bangladesh’s willingness to learn from China’s governance experience, expand cooperation in trade and healthcare, and strengthen regional multilateral coordination.

Both sides view the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to elevate their bilateral relationship to a new level.
