Xi Jinping Congratulates Global Civilizations Dialogue in Beijing

Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a congratulatory letter to the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Civilizations Dialogue, which commenced in Beijing on July 10. The two-day event, themed “Safeguarding Diversity of Human Civilizations for World Peace and Development,” has attracted over 600 guests from 140 countries and regions.

In his letter, President Xi emphasized that the prosperity of civilizations and the progress of humanity are inseparable from the exchange and mutual learning among different cultures. He noted that amid complex changes in the international landscape, it is increasingly important for humanity to prioritize dialogue over estrangement and mutual learning over clashes.

“China is ready to work with all countries to uphold the principles of equality, mutual learning, dialogue, and inclusiveness among civilizations,” Xi wrote. He highlighted China’s commitment to practicing the Global Civilization Initiative and promoting the building of a global network for dialogue and cooperation among civilizations to inject new impetus into human progress and world peace.

President Xi expressed hope that participants would engage in in-depth exchanges, build consensus, and contribute wisdom and strength to promoting mutual understanding and friendship among people worldwide, fostering harmonious coexistence among different civilizations.

The event is hosted by the Publicity Department and the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. It serves as a platform for countries to share experiences and discuss ways to enhance cultural exchanges and cooperation for a more peaceful and developed world.
