Slovak Official Praises Dialogue as Key to Global Peace

Beijing, China — Gabriel Fischer, European Affairs Advisor to the Chairman of Voice-Social Democracy of Slovakia and Slovak National Council representative to the European Union, has highlighted the crucial role of dialogue in peacebuilding.

Speaking at the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting in Beijing, Fischer praised China’s Global Civilization Initiative for its emphasis on shared human values. He noted that principles like freedom, peace, democracy, justice, fairness, and mutual understanding are essential in driving intercultural dialogue.

"The majority of conflicts in the world stem from misunderstandings among civilizations," Fischer stated. "If we don’t understand our partners — their goals or interests — it’s very difficult to build on dialogue."

When asked about the role of cultural dialogue and mutual learning in promoting peace and development, Fischer described dialogue among civilizations as "the key peacemaking factor we can form." He emphasized, "This platform provides us with the opportunity to understand each other and to learn about our positions."

Fischer’s remarks underscore the importance of intercultural communication in fostering global peace and development, encouraging nations to engage in open and honest conversations.
