Zambia’s United Party for National Development (UPND) Secretary General Batuke Imenda has praised China’s remarkable success in fighting poverty. In a recent interview with CGTN, Imenda highlighted how China’s targeted government policies have lifted hundreds of millions out of deprivation.
“What sets China apart is its dual focus on immediate and long-term solutions,” Imenda said. He pointed out that China addresses urgent needs like improving housing and livelihoods in rural western regions, while also ensuring lasting impact.
A key part of China’s strategy involves engaging university students to track progress during their academic breaks. This approach combines immediate assistance with rigorous oversight, reflecting an unwavering dedication to eliminating poverty and preventing setbacks.
Imenda believes that other countries can learn from China’s model. “It’s a testament to visionary governance. Collaboration and learning from each other’s successes is key to global development,” he added.
