Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday in Tianjin, a city in north China. Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized China’s readiness to work with Pakistan to implement important agreements reached by their nations’ leaders. He expressed a desire to advance the building of a China-Pakistan community with a shared future.

Highlighting economic collaboration, Wang Yi stated that China aims to strengthen strategic dialogue with Pakistan and enhance the quality of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He also mentioned plans to deepen cooperation in agriculture, industry, and mining, and to host events celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year.

On security issues, Wang Yi affirmed China’s support for Pakistan’s efforts in combating terrorism. He noted the Chinese government’s concern for the safety of its citizens in Pakistan and expressed confidence that Pakistan will continue to ensure the protection of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions within its borders.

Deputy Prime Minister Dar reiterated Pakistan’s adherence to the one-China principle and support for China’s core interests. He expressed full support for China’s preparations for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin. Dar looked forward to deepening comprehensive cooperation between the two nations and pledged efforts to safeguard Chinese citizens and institutions in Pakistan.
