Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi welcomed Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov to Tianjin on Wednesday, as the two nations pledged to strengthen their longstanding friendship and cooperation.
During the meeting, Wang Yi highlighted the recent China-Central Asia Summit where both countries’ leaders charted a course for future relations. He emphasized China’s commitment to working with Uzbekistan to implement the agreements made, prepare for upcoming high-level exchanges, and elevate their bilateral relations to new heights.
“China is a trustworthy and reliable partner for Uzbekistan,” Wang Yi stated. He reaffirmed China’s support for Uzbekistan’s sovereignty, security, and development interests, and expressed a desire to accelerate collaboration in key sectors.
The ministers discussed accelerating the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway project, aiming for early operation to enhance connectivity and economic growth in the region. They also touched upon cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), with China looking forward to hosting the upcoming Tianjin Summit and working closely with Uzbekistan and other member states.
Bakhtiyor Saidov praised the elevation of China-Uzbekistan relations to an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership. “We have seen fruitful cooperation in various fields,” Saidov noted. He expressed Uzbekistan’s willingness to expand cooperation in logistics, mineral resources, artificial intelligence, green transformation, and desertification control.
Saidov also emphasized the importance of close communication on regional and international affairs, aiming to safeguard common interests and propel bilateral ties to a new level. He affirmed Uzbekistan’s full support for China’s hosting of the SCO Tianjin Summit.
