China Sees 1364m Visa free Foreign Entries in the First Half of 2025

China Welcomes 13.64 Million Visa-Free Visitors in First Half of 2025

China has witnessed a significant surge in visa-free foreign entries, welcoming 13.64 million visitors in the first half of 2025. This marks a 53.9% increase compared to the same period last year, with visa-free entries accounting for 71.2% of total foreign arrivals.

At a recent press conference, the National Immigration Administration announced the implementation of new visa-free policies aimed at boosting tourism and international exchanges. In early 2025, China introduced a visa-free policy for ASEAN tourist groups entering Xishuangbanna in Yunnan Province. Additionally, Indonesia was added to the list of countries eligible for China’s 240-hour transit visa-free policy.

The administration has actively collaborated with relevant departments to streamline processes for foreign visitors, enhancing services related to payments, accommodations, transportation, and more. These efforts have effectively strengthened exchanges between Chinese and foreign nationals, fostering economic and trade cooperation.

This significant growth in tourism reflects China’s commitment to opening up and promoting cultural exchange, offering more opportunities for global travelers to explore its rich heritage and vibrant cities.
