At a high-profile forum in Beijing on Thursday, China’s leading trade official urged Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries to intensify economic and trade cooperation to boost regional growth. Gao Yunlong, chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce and vice-chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, highlighted the pivotal role of collaboration among SCO nations.
“Economic and trade cooperation is a powerful engine driving the SCO’s dynamic development,” Gao stated during the opening of the SCO business forum. He emphasized China’s readiness to work with other parties to align regional development strategies, enhance the quality and level of cooperation, and ensure the stability and efficiency of industrial and supply chains.
Gao pointed out that these efforts aim to foster an SCO community with a shared future, contributing to lasting global peace and shared prosperity. The forum, hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, attracted nearly 400 participants from government institutions and the business community both domestically and internationally.
The SCO, established in 2001, is a Eurasian political, economic, and security alliance that plays a significant role in regional affairs. Strengthening economic ties among member countries is seen as a key strategy for promoting sustainable development and addressing common challenges.
