Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with South African Deputy President Paul Mashatile on Thursday in Beijing, marking a significant step in strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
Last September, China and South Africa elevated their relationship to an all-round strategic cooperative partnership in the new era. Vice President Han hailed this advancement as a new chapter in building a high-level community with a shared future between China and South Africa.
“We should further implement the important consensus reached by our heads of state,” Han emphasized. “By deepening political mutual trust and advancing high-quality development of our bilateral cooperation, we can better serve the modernization efforts of both our nations.”
Deputy President Mashatile expressed South Africa’s strong commitment to its relationship with China. “South Africa attaches great importance to its ties with China and firmly adheres to the one-China policy,” he stated.
Mashatile highlighted the robust progress in trade, investment, and other fields between the two nations. “We are ready to further implement the consensus reached to contribute to the development of relations between South Africa and China, as well as between Africa and China,” he added.
The meeting underscores the ongoing efforts to enhance collaboration and mutual understanding, paving the way for increased cooperation in various sectors that benefit both countries and the broader African continent.
