China mongolia Port Handles 2000 China europe Freight Trains in 2025

Erenhot Port Sees Record 2,000 China-Europe Freight Trains in 2023

China’s Erenhot Port, the largest land port on the China-Mongolia border, has marked a significant milestone by handling 2,000 China-Europe freight trains this year, according to China Railway Hohhot Group Co., Ltd.

This achievement highlights the success of an integrated transport model between Erenhot Port and Mongolia’s Zamyn-Uud station, designed to boost efficiency. Daily communications and monthly meetings between the two ports have streamlined the coordination of cross-border train movements, ensuring precise scheduling of arrivals and departures.

“We’ve reduced border inspection times to under 30 minutes and cut overall clearance time by over 5%,” said Yun Zhijun from Erenhot Station. The port plans to further optimize operations by adopting a digital port system for paperless customs clearance and enhancing collaboration with customs and border inspection units.

Erenhot Port is a pivotal entry-exit point on the central corridor of the China-Europe railway service. It now serves 73 routes, linking over 60 cities across 24 Chinese provincial-level regions to more than 70 cities or stations in over 10 countries, including Germany and Poland.

This development not only bolsters trade between China and Europe but also enhances connectivity along the Belt and Road Initiative, fostering economic growth and cooperation across the region.
