Chinese Premier Li Qiang to Address 2025 World AI Conference in Shanghai

Chinese Premier Li Qiang is set to attend and address the opening ceremony of the 2025 World AI Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance in Shanghai on July 26, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

AI technology is rapidly advancing, becoming a key driving force in the new wave of technological revolution and industrial transformation. Foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun highlighted China’s aim to make the conference a technology leader, an application showcase, an industry accelerator, and a governance council in the field of AI.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Global Solidarity in the AI Era,” with high-level representatives from over 40 countries and international organizations invited to attend. Participants will discuss three major topics:

  • Deepening innovation cooperation and unleashing the intelligence dividend
  • Promoting inclusive development and bridging the digital divide
  • Strengthening collaborative governance and ensuring AI for good

“We look forward to enhanced solidarity, joint pursuit for development, and concerted actions to promote the sound and orderly development of AI and make sure it is a force for good, safety, and fairness,” Guo stated.

This conference signifies a significant step toward global cooperation in AI, aiming to harness the technology’s potential to benefit all and ensure its development is responsible and equitable.
