EU Leaders Arrive in Beijing for 25th China-EU Summit

European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen touched down in Beijing on Thursday for the 25th China-EU Summit. The high-level meeting marks a significant milestone, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union.

President Xi Jinping is set to meet with the EU leaders, while Premier Li Qiang and the pair will jointly chair the summit. The discussions aim to enhance strategic communication and deepen cooperation between the two global powers.

Guo Jiakun, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, stated earlier this week that China-EU relations are “at a critical juncture.” He emphasized that the summit presents an opportunity to build on past achievements, address new challenges, and open a new chapter in bilateral ties.

“The summit will help enhance bilateral strategic communication and deepen dialogue and cooperation, which will serve the interests of both sides and the world at large,” Guo said during a regular press briefing.

As the world navigates complex global issues, the China-EU Summit is expected to address topics ranging from trade and investment to climate change and international security. Young people around the globe are watching closely as these discussions could shape policies affecting their futures.
