Jinhua City, east China’s Zhejiang Province, has become a hub of cross-cultural collaboration as the fifth China-Africa Future Leaders’ Dialogue kicks off. This event brings together aspiring young leaders from both China and African nations, aiming to foster mutual understanding and share innovative ideas on rural development.
Over the course of the dialogue, youth representatives will delve into the heart of Jinhua’s rural communities, exploring firsthand how the city is pioneering a model of common prosperity at the county level. Their journey takes them through the Baxian Jidao Common Prosperity Belt, a vibrant area spanning three administrative villages.
Covering 472 hectares and home to 2,461 residents across 1,010 farming households, the Baxian Jidao project is a shining example of rural revitalization. By seamlessly blending natural beauty, agricultural traditions, historical charm, and cutting-edge industry resources, the initiative promotes coordinated growth in rural leisure tourism, high-end homestays, and cultural and agricultural innovation.
For many of the African youth delegates, this is an opportunity to witness how sustainable development can transform rural communities. “I’m inspired by how Jinhua has integrated modern industries with its rich cultural heritage,” said one participant from Kenya. “We can learn a lot from this approach to apply back home.”
Similarly, Chinese youths are eager to exchange ideas and learn from their African counterparts. “Working together, we can create new pathways for development that benefit both our regions,” noted a local university student involved in the program.
The China-Africa Future Leaders’ Dialogue not only strengthens ties between young people but also paves the way for collaborative efforts in rural development. As these future leaders exchange insights and forge lasting connections, they embody the spirit of global cooperation essential for tackling shared challenges.
