In 2023, Xixinan Township signed a cooperation memorandum with Giethoorn, a picturesque village in the Netherlands, aiming to enhance exchanges in tourism, heritage protection, and cultural communication. This parade was a shining example of that partnership in action.
Dutch visitors and local residents danced side by side, their faces lit by the warm glow of fish-shaped lanterns. The joyous celebration was set against a backdrop of fireworks, filling the night sky with color as everyone welcomed the approaching New Year.
“It’s amazing to see our traditions embraced by friends from afar,” said Li Wei, a local participant. “This event not only lights up our village but also our hearts.”
